The 2013 Solo Pro Season is now in the books. We had a great year thanks to all of you, averaging 80 boats per tournament this season. The 2014 season looks to be even bigger and better, with a guaranteed $15,000 and $10,000 to 1st and 2nd place at the 2014 championship.

Reminder: The Oklahoma Division for the 2014 Solo Pro Series will kick off this weekend, November 3rd, at Grand Lake. We will take off from Wolf Creek ramp at 7am. You can still sign up online, or pay at the ramp Sunday morning.

Paul Angelakos fished the Linley arm on the last major channel swing at the mouth of the main river. The channel swing had a mix of big rock, brush, and lay downs. The strong winds on Saturday had the shad pushed up on the banks, so he threw a Bass Craft crankbait. Paul had one keeper early along with some short fish, but then caught his big 6.16. The bite slowed, but finally caught another keeper around 1:30 pm. He was able to finish his limit by 2 oíclock, but then caught a nice one that weighed in at four pounds; allowing him to cull a 13 incher.
After a long night, he was ready to go Sunday morning. With a two and a half hour fog delay, Paul and his marshal were finally able to head back to his key area from Saturday. With a lack of wind Sunday, the bite was extremely slow, but he had confidence in the area and so stuck with it. He knew the shad would move up and the fish would turn on. With a few shorts early, Paulís fist keeper didnít come until about 1:30. He was then able to catch seven keepers on a mix of a spinnerbait, the Bass Craft square bill, and a jig.
Paul would like to thank Bass Pro for giving him the weekends off to allow him to fish the Series, Bass Craft crank bait, and a very special thanks to Brad and Scott at Marine Repair Center. His trolling motor broke Friday afternoon, but these guys had him fixed and on his way within an hour and a half.
Curt Graves took second place by also fishing the Linley arm, but running further up than most anglers. He found his success by using a brown jig with matching trailer, and various plastics. The majority of his fish came off wood and a few docks in the afternoons. Curt would like to thank his sponsors: Albertís Marine, Nitro, and Mercury Marine. He said that he really enjoyed the weekend and his marshal was great.
Third place went to Billy Elbert, who also focused on the Linley arm. Saturday was a little tough on him. With eight keeper bites, he was only able to get four in the boat. By the end of Saturday, he was in 13th place. Billy headed to the same area Sunday, hoping the fish would be there. The boat was slow in the morning, but by mid-afternoon, it was game on! He caught his fish on a Pig Sticker Snowden jig in brown and orange, and an RC 1.5 in a shad pattern. Billy had the biggest sack of the day. He would like to thank his sponsors: Pheonix Boats, Mercury Marine, and McAllister Marine.
AiA would like to thank Clearlight Inn and Tadpoles Restaurant for all they did over the weekend. We would also like to thank all the anglers that helped make this season great. Each angler worked hard, showed tremendous dedication, and displayed great sportsmanship. Dustin Cox was in 26th place up until about 1:30 on Sunday before he finally was able to put about 13 pounds in the boat, moving him up to 8th place. Unfortunately, he lost his lower unit en route to the weigh in. After calling in to confirm that he could transfer fish to another boat, Mark Wiese Jr. picked him up and got him to the scales in time. Ashley Medley, after hearing that Dustinís boat was just free-floating on the lake, went and found his boat and towed it in. These are examples of the types of anglers we have in the Solo Pro Series. Great job guys!
