MARIE'S MEMORIAL BASS CHALLENGE
A chilly, foggy, morning greeted the 177 boats that converged at Lake of the Ozarks to take part in Marie’s Memorial Bass Challenge. This annual event celebrates the life of Marie Terrell-Steinkuehler, who was tragically killed at Lake of the Ozarks when she was hit by a drunk boater on July 25, 2020.
We want to thank everyone that came out and participated in Marie’s Memorial Bass Challenge and hope you all had a great time fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
We also want to thank Gary Clouse with Phoenix Boats, Bassing Bob and his great staff, and Brent Algeo with Purkleen for their support of this event!
1st Place: Total Weight
Congratulations to Adam Boehle and Mark Wilson for their 1st place finish on the total weight side. Mark & Adam weighed in 20.19 lbs. to take the top spot on total weight, plus they had the 3rd big bass of the event with a 5.48 kicker. Mark & Adam landed a $6,300 payday!
They also took home an extra $5,000 for winning and fishing from their Phoenix Boat purchased from Anglers Port Marine. 2nd Place: Total Weight
Justin Swast and Andy Newcomb placed 2nd overall on the total weight side. Andy and Justin rounded up 5 solid keepers throughout the day that weighed in at 17.42 lbs. They also had 10th big bass with a 5.03 lb. kicker, for a total win of $2,200. Great job guys!
3rd Place: Total Weight
3rd place on the total weight side and 14th on the big bass side went to the team of Jon Hardy and Justin Luetkemeyer. Justin and Jon weighed in a 5 fish limit that locked in on 17.13 lbs., plus a 4.79 lb. big bass that earned them a cool $1,725. Nice work guys!

1st Place: Big Bass
Mark Wiese and Frank Sinn managed just 2 keepers throughout the day, but they made them count. Frank and Mark landed a massive 7.40 lb. giant which took big bass of the event and landed them a cool $2,900 payday! Congrats guys!
2nd Place: Big Bass
2nd place overall on the big bass side went to the team of Jim Morrison and Bryan Short. Bryan and Jim smashed a 5.68 lb. bass, good for 2nd place and a $1,600 payday! Nice job guys!

The team with the closest weight to Marie’s birthday, August 20th (8.20 lbs.) wins $500. This addition is sponsored by Brent Algeo with Purkleen, and was won by Dirk Sluyter and Dion Hibdon. They came across the scales with 8.31 lbs., which was the closest weight for the event!
